Community Membership
A bit about our community studio membership format – sfclayworks is a community based studio with a cooperative spirit! We ask that each member contribute some degree of participation in the everyday operations of the studio. In return, we hope to cultivate a deeper understanding of the craft we all love and keep the studio running smoothly.
A monthly studio pass fee is $190 a month; membership allows the member to use the studio with the exception of special workshops and events. Our current membership model is more cooperative than in the past; each member is expected to contribute to studio operations to some degree to help the studio run smoothly.
New members may join on the 1st or 15th of every month and must have a mandatory orientation before starting work in the studio. All clay must be purchased from the studio and is priced to include the cost of glazes and firing. No outside materials are allowed.
All new community members are interviewed for prior clay experience and eligibility. To start your community membership at sfclayworks, new members will be required to pay an additional $85 deposit. The deposit is refundable upon membership termination, as long as one month’s notice has been given to sfclayworks. Your deposit is forfeited if sfclayworks is not informed of your intent to leave, or if there is less than one month’s notice given. *Space is limited
