BETH OZAROW

After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design, I worked with the sculptor Constance Leslie, in her Providence, RI studio.  The eight years spent as her assistant honed the skills that form the basis of every day I have spent in a studio since.  My good fortune in starting my working life as part of the daily creative efforts of a ceramic artist has given me a lasting, intimate connection to clay. I began working with the figure several years ago; much of the early work was in the form of busts and heads, gradually developing into more complete expression of gesture and emotional tone.  Recent work has been influenced by my long-time interest in the natural world and in organic form; I’ve added birds and other allegorical images to explore the internal aspects of human experience. My work has been exhibited throughout California and nationally.
