The end of another landmark year at sfclayworks; we are heading into our third year! As we close out 2014, we are extremely grateful for this fabulous clay community we have created at sfclayworks.

We now have a number of yearly traditions we host during the year, one of them being SF Open Studios, San Francisco’s city wide open studio event. sfclayworks artists completed their third SF Open Studio event on the weekend of Nov 25-26th, 2014. It always provides us with a great opportunity to show off what is happening in the studio. Even with the SF Giants battling for their third World Series pennant we managed to draw in a fair number of visitors. As many of you might have guessed, the city was captivated with everything Giants. It was a great series! Go Giants!

During Open Studio, we once again hosted our Annual Student and Community Exhibition: “Around the Table”, which always receives great praise for the work our community creates during the year. The students and community members really do know how to make us look good!

For the third year, sfclayworks open studio also included the local food purveyor sāba jam. sfclayworks considers itself lucky to have such an incredible local cottage food entrepreneur among our studio members. Every year we look forward to having sāba jam join us. We all love her delectable jam combinations!

Artist Julia Galloway added to this years excitement in the studio. The opportunity to learn from someone with her amazing skills as a potter, her vast knowledge of pottery history, and design was a highlight of the year. This makes two fabulous guest artist workshops hosted by sfclayworks. Stayed tuned, as sfclayworks is hosting visiting artist Sam Chung during June of 2015.

The last and not the least memorable event of the year was our annual event the box party, an event tradition from our previous studio that we all enjoy. (Thanks John!) The box party is a great time for all of us at sfclayworks to say thanks to everyone and celebrate this incredible studio, sfclayworks, that we call home.

Looking forward to 2015 and all of the new adventures it will bring…….
