Michelle Gregor Master Workshop @ sfclayworks

On Saturday, July 8, 2023 Bay Area based figurative sculptor Michelle Gregor came to sfclayworks and held a workshop for our members. Many of our members had never met Michelle before so they had an opportunity to meet her, see her work, and learn more about her working methods. Michelle demonstrated the coil build method that she uses for her amazing work. As most of our members are predominantly potters, it was nice to observe and learn new ways we can connect with clay. Below are a few images from the workshop. sfclayworks provided this workshop free to studio members which is an added bonus of studio membership at sfclayworks. Workshop with Maria Litichevska

On Saturday, Feb 17, 2023  community members of sfclayworks were honored with a master ceramics class taught by Ukrainian ceramicist Maria Litichevska. Maria started with a slide presentation of some of her work and a brief history of her art background. We were lucky to have our own member, Anelyia, help with translation when needed as Maria has only been speaking English since she arrived in SF 6 months ago when she escaped the war in Ukraine with her young son. Attendees wedged up some clay and attempted to join three pieces into a single form under Maria’s tutelage. We had a really good time, learned a lot from her and were all impressed by her grace, skill and tenacity. We hope we might be [...]
