Workshop with Maria Litichevska

On Saturday, Feb 17, 2023 community members of sfclayworks were honored with a master ceramics class taught by Ukrainian ceramicist Maria Litichevska. Maria started with a slide presentation of some of her work and a brief history of her art background. We were lucky to have our own member, Anelyia, help with translation when needed as Maria has only been speaking English since she arrived in SF 6 months ago when she escaped the war in Ukraine with her young son.
Attendees wedged up some clay and attempted to join three pieces into a single form under Maria’s tutelage. We had a really good time, learned a lot from her and were all impressed by her grace, skill and tenacity.
We hope we might be able to bring her back sometime in the future to teach a class on animal forms.
